Standards
The route every article on donmo.org takes from idea to publication, and what we refuse to publish.

Yes, some outbound links pay. What they pay for is the hosting bill, not the wording of the assessment sitting next to them.
Requests to soften a verdict are declined, and we keep them on file. More than one has become the subject of its own paragraph later.
The writer starts by getting everything down, then goes back and marks anything they could not defend if pushed. Those marks are resolved one by one, against a source or from experience, and whatever cannot be resolved is deleted rather than softened. A second reader then goes looking only for false certainty.
A subject earns a page when somebody has asked about it twice, or when we went looking for the answer ourselves and came back empty handed.
The date you see is real. A tidy up of wording leaves it alone; only a change to what the piece recommends moves the modified date, along with a note saying so.
You can always see who wrote a page and what else they have put their name to. That traceability is deliberate, and it is why nothing here goes out unsigned.
Imelda Ashdown, Editor. Imelda spent ten years in the fundraising team of a small charity, writing appeals and reading the replies, before starting Donmo.
Tomasz Kowalczyk, Volunteering writer. Tomasz coordinates volunteers at a food bank on weekday evenings while holding down a full-time job in logistics.
Thandiwe Mbatha, Games and community writer. Thandiwe helps organise charity streams in her gaming community and writes about how players raise money together.
Write to [email protected] with the page address and what is wrong. Factual errors are fixed quickly. If the correction changes the conclusion of a piece, we add a short note at the foot of the page rather than quietly editing it.
